Nottingham Theory Test Centre Directions
Car
Nottingham’s test venue is located within ‘The Hub’ building on Friar Lane, located in the heart of the city centre. The M1 passes to the west of Nottingham, with the A52 offering connecting travel towards the city. If approaching from the east, please again use the A52, but then transfer onto the A60 to access the city centre.
Parking
There are multiple car parks located within a convenient walking distance of the test centre; we’ve highlighted two potential options below:
New City House Car Park is situated approximately 150m south-west of The Hub, and therefore facilitates a short onwards journey to the venue. Parking is priced at £2 per hour, and can be paid for via either cash or using the PayByPhone service line.
St James’ Street multi-storey is slightly further away, and also charges a little more for parking coverage. The car park sits to the south-west of the test site, and has a parking rate of £3.95 per hour. To access the test centre from here, head west on Standard Hill, before turning left onto Friar Hill and advancing northbound towards The Hub.
For further local parking availability, please head to the relevant Parkopedia page, located here.
Bus
Given the venue’s central location, there are several bus routes which have scheduled stops in close proximity. If taking advantage of Nottingham’s local bus network, please target arrival at one of the following bus stops:
Maid Marian Way, St. Nicholas’ Church, Beastmarket Hill. All of these stops are within a five-minute walk of Friar Lane.

Train
Nottingham Train Station sits on the southern outskirts of the city centre, roughly 800m away from the test centre, and facilitates travel from various parts of the country. The route to the venue will take approximately eleven minutes to navigate by foot. Advance north over Carrington Street bridge, and then turn left onto Canal Street. Progress until you reach the Castle Boulevard junction, and then turn right to head northbound up Greyfriar Gate and Maid Marian Way (A6008). Turn right onto Friar Lane, and continue on until you reach the venue, which will appear on your left-hand side.
Alternatively, you can reduce your journey time by taking the number 3 Skylink (Nottingham) service. You’ll be able to access this bus from the train station bus stop, and alight at Friar Lane stop, a short, 50m eastbound walk away from The Hub.
For live departure & arrival times, station facilities, and accessibility information, please visit the East Midlands Railway website.
Nottingham also has an internal tram network, with the closest tram stop, Old Market Square, positioned along both express lines (1 & 2). The stop is located on South Parade, which merges into Friar Lane as you travel west.
