Car

Edinburgh’s testing venue is located in the heart of the city centre, adjacent to Queen Street Gardens. Travel to the city is supported by various motorways and commuter routes, including the M8, A71, A90, A1, A68 and A7. The A720 wraps around the southern perimeter of the city, providing access to rads heading towards the centre of Edinburgh.

Parking

There are numerous local car parks within walking distance of the venue. The two sites articulated below are situated within a kilometre of Queen Street, and therefore two-hour parking coverage will provide enough time to head to the venue, conduct your test, and return to your vehicle.

St. James Quarter Car Park is just 500m away, and charges £6.20 for two-hour parking. This facility accommodates disabled parking and electronic vehicle charging. All payment types are accepted at this site. To access the venue from here, head west on St. James’ Place, continuing onto York Place and then Queen Street. On arrival, the test centre will be located on your left-hand side.

Omni Car Park is a touch further away than St James Quarter, but also marginally less expensive, charging £6.00 for a two-hour parking ticket. The onwards journey to the test site will take approximately eleven minutes, and requires walking westward through Edinburgh city centre, using Multrees Walk and North St. Andrews Street to emerge on Queen Street.

Bus

Given Edinburgh’s size and stature, there are multiple bus routes heading towards its city centre. Therefore, there should be plenty of relevant available services to consider when planning your personal journey to the test centre.

We would encourage you to target arrival at one of the following bus stops, which are all within a five-minute walk of the venue:

Abercromby Place, Hill Street, George Street, and Hanover Street.

Train

Edinburgh Waverley station welcomes passengers from all over the UK, and is located just 650m south-east of Queen Street.

The eight-minute onwards walk takes you across Princes Street, northbound up St. Andrew’s Street and beyond St. Andrews Square. After navigating the full length of St. Andrew’s Street, turn left onto Queen Street, and progress westwards to the test site.
