Burnley Theory Test Centre Directions

The testing area itself is located within the Rachel Kay-Shuttleworth Room. The CVS building is located next door to ‘The Brickmakers Pub’, and opposite St. Mary Church.

Car

Burnley’s testing venue is located within the CVS (Council for Voluntary Service) building on Yorkshire, located just east of the town centre. The test centre is easily accessible via the A6114, which has reasonable connections to the M65, which services Burnley from the west of the town.

Parking

Unfortunately, there are no car parks positioned in immediate proximity to the CVS building, but there are a number situated just over 500m away.

William Thompson is around a six-minute walk from the test centre, heading in a north-westerly direction. If using this site, we would recommend purchasing a two-hour ticket, which will provide enough time to navigate the onwards journey to the CVS building, conduct your test, and return to your vehicle. Parking for this duration will cost just £1.60, which can be paid for by either cash or using the MiPermit service line (details available on-site). Disabled spaces are available at this facility.

If this site is full, Centenary Way Car Park is situated just behind, although parking prices here are slightly more expensive.

To reach the test centre from either of these venues, please head north on Centenary Way, before turning right at the first roundabout onto Yorkshire Street. Follow this road towards the venue, using the bridge to head over the River Brun in the process.

Alternative local parking options can be found here.

Bus

There are a number of local bus routes which pass nearby the CVS building. When planning your personal journey to the venue, we would recommend identifying a service that schedules a stop at one of the following destinations:

Blakey Street, Harry Potts Way, The Wellington, Culvert. All of these bus stops are within two minutes-walk of the test site. Please also note that Burnley Bus Station, located on Croft Street, is around 500m from the test site.

Train

There are several train stations located in Burnley, with the largest two (Burnley Manchester Road and Burnley Central) equidistant to the test venue. As Burnley Manchester Road facilitates more routes and services than Burnley Central, we would encourage you to consider this station as the primary option.

On foot, the journey from Manchester Burnley Road to the test centre will take approximately seventeen minutes, and is just over one kilometre on length. Head north-east on the A682, turning right at the first and second roundabout, which will take you to Yorkshire Street. Again, progress over the bridge towards the venue. Travelling by bus reduces travel time only fractionally, however this is a viable option. Take the X43 Witchway (Burnley) service from the railway station bus stop, and exit at Burnley Bus Station. To access the test centre from here, head north on Croft Street, turn right onto Yorkshire Street, and continue in a straight line towards the venue.
