Please note that the entrance to Phoenix Yard is located opposite the Sue Townsend Theatre, underneath the archway between Tinsel Town restaurant, and MNE Accounting.
Car
The test venue is located on Upper Brown Street, in Phoenix Yard, just to the south side of the city centre. Leicester is easily accessible from the M1, and can also be reached via the A6. There are two reliable car parks close to the test centre; their information is listed below. Upper Brown Street Car Park
This car park is positioned directly on the doorstep of Phoenix Yard. The car park is open all day every day, but please note it does operate a four-hour maximum stay limit (unless you’re planning to extend your stay in Leicester beyond your test, this won’t be an issue). There are also a limited number of spaces available, so please ensure you plan a reserve option in case this site is full.
Parking charges are as follows:
- 1 hour = £1
- 3 hours = £3
- 4 hours = £4
If you require an overnight space, through the night tickets are priced at £2 (arrive after 5.00pm, exit before 6.00am). Please note that parking costs are cheaper on Sundays. All payment types are accepted.

Newarke Street Car Park
This is a large multi-story car park, and therefore locating an available space shouldn’t be a problem. This site has exactly the same pricing structure as Upper Brown Street Car Park, but has no cap on the length of stay. However, please note that this facility does close at 1.00am (1.30am on Fridays, 6.00pm on Sundays), so overnight parking is not an option. Nevertheless, an evening ticket (in after 5.00pm), can be purchased between Monday to Saturday, and is priced at £2.
Phoenix Yard is just around the corner from this car park, and will take less than one-minute to navigate the route.
Bus
Given the testing venue’s central location, there are numerous bus routes that pass nearby. We’ve selected several services which enter the city from various directions; hopefully one will completement your journey to the test centre.
158: The number 158 heads between Nuneaton and Leicester, travelling in north-east/south west directions. If using this service, please exit at Haymarket Bus Station, where this bus terminates. The test site is approximately one kilometre from here. If heading by foot, cut southbound through the city centre, passing the Clock Tower, and progressing on Hotel Street and then Millstone Lane. Turn left onto Marble Street and continue southbound until you arrive at Upper Brown Street. Taking the number 20 bus will reduce travel time slightly, and is available to catch from Haymarket station. Please exit at Welford Place, which is just 150m south-east of Phoenix Yard.
20: This service heads east/west, operating between Western Park in Leicester’s western outskirts and the city centre. Again, please exit Welford Place, located within a two-minute walk of the venue.

Train
Leicester Railway Station facilitates good connections to various areas of the country. It’s located just to the south-east of the city centre, roughly one kilometre away from the test centre. We advise heading to the venue by foot.
Head northwest on London Road, and continue onto Granby Street. Progress for roughly 200m, and then left onto Belvoir Street. Continue south-west until you arrive at the Upper Brown Street junction, then turning left to access Phoenix Yard. This journey should take approximately thirteen minutes.
