Exeter Theory Test Centre Directions
Car
Exeter’s test venue is based within the Beaufort House on New North Road, located on the northern outskirts of the town centre. If travelling from the west, Exeter is accessible via the A377 and A30, and the M5 facilitates travel towards the town from the east.
Parking
There are plenty of parking sites in close proximity to Beaufort House. We would recommend using either John Lewis’ car park, or the nearby Northernay facility.
Northernay Car Park is a short, two-minute walk from the test venue. Parking is charged at £3.00 per hour, or a four-hour ticket can be purchased for £6.00. From a cost-effectiveness perspective, we would encourage you to opt for this four-hour coverage. Please be aware that payment for parking at this site can only be made via the RingGo phone service line. Disabled spaces are available.
John Lewis Car Park, positioned around 150m from the test centre, charges £4.50 for two hours parking, or 3 hours for £5.60 (prices rise gradually as parking hours increase). Again, disabled parking is accommodated at this site. It also operates electronic vehicle charging facilities. To reach Beaufort House from here, simply head south-west down Longbrook Street, and turn right onto New North Road. The venue will be roughly 100m up on your right-hand side.
Further local parking options can be found here.
Bus
There are numerous bus services that head directly into Exeter town centre, and therefore plenty of routes that pass nearby the test site. Numbers 55, 56, 5A, and 7 are four of the key transit lines which facilitate travel towards Beaufort House. For alternative appropriate services, please click the following link.
When planning your personal journey to the test centre, please look to utilize a bus service that has one of the following scheduled stops:
New North Road, Paris Street, Sidwell Street, High Street. All of these bus stops are within a five minute-walk of the testing venue.
Train
There are several train stations based in Exeter. Although the largest in the town is Exeter St. David’s, please look for services heading to Exeter Central, as this is situated just 650m from Beaufort House. If direct routes to Exeter Central aren’t available in your locality, please travel to Exeter St. David’s, and then catch catching a connecting train.
To access Beaufort House from Exeter Central, please progress eastbound, walking around the perimeter of the Castle grounds, and then dropping down onto New North Road.
